IYCS Africa has organised a Sub – Regional Training Session for Southern Africa sub region YCS leaders. Participants for the session will be drawn from the following countries; South Africa, Lesotho, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Mozambique.
The Theme of the sub regional training is: “Promoting Peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable developmental students in Africa taking Action”
Peace, justice and inclusion are the main concerns of the young generation and are on the top of youth-led organizations’ agenda all over the world. However, besides the official recognition of their role and main concerns, challenges remain open when it comes to the effective space young people and youth organizations actually have on what regards the implementation, the monitoring and the review of the global goals following a bottom-up approach.
Providing youth with the skills and opportunities to address their main concerns would have a positive impact on the overall global society, preparing the ground for a political arena where all the stakeholders contribute for a wealthy and democratic society.
More efficient and structured mechanisms to participate in the decision making process represent an essential step to guarantee youth contribution in translating policies into action and in making governments efforts more accountable towards their commitment to the UN SDGs and the African Union Agenda 2063.
