It is with profound sadness that IYCS Africa received news about the catastrophe in Sierra Leone, we would like to express our deepest condolences and sympathy to all Sierra Leoneans who have been affected by a devastating landslide and flooding that hit their country. This is certainly one of Africa’s worst natural disasters, it occurred when one side of Mount Sugar Loaf collapsed on Monday after heavy rain, burying parts of Regent town an outskirt of the capital, Freetown. The scale and power of the forces unleashed on Sierra Leoneans are hard to comprehend and the images from the disaster terrifying.
We send our deepest sympathy to YCS Sierra Leone and affirm our moral supports by rallying YCSers across the globe to stand in solidarity with them during this hard time of disaster. We are crying with you, we are suffering with you and we say in unison; NO, to the INDIFFERENCE.
The entire YCS Africa family joins in solidarity to share the grief, pain and suffering of the people of Sierra Leone.
As the situation continues to unfold, we stand up and say NO to the ECOLOGICAL CRISIS.
IYCS Africa urges all YCS members and former members across the globe mind the people of Sierra Leone and to unreservedly support them by; most importantly praying for them, joiningin rescue efforts for those are in a position to do so and to provide materially and all for logistical supports. It is important to empathize with the affected through messages of Solidarity.
We understand your feelings of sorrow and concern for your loved ones, friends and relatives who may have been affected in one way or another by this tragedy. We hope and pray for your country’s speedy recovery from the effects of this disaster.
In deed another life is possible. We be I know you are a nation of people who will work your way through it all. We believe people of Sierra Leone will overcome this disaster and reconstruct their beautiful homeland.
