On the 23rd June 2018, as we continue to celebrate the life of the Movement in Africa. The Pan African Coordination team joined the YCSers of Mount Kenya University (MKU) main campus Thika in the company of members from Nakuru campus and other institutions in Thinkaand Nairobi. We were also joined by a special guest Ms. Nicole Ekila, National Coordinator of YCS/JEC DRC intern trainee at IYCS Africa Secretariat.
The YCS Africa Day “22nd June”, dedicated in memory of the first Pan African Chaplain, Lt. Rev. Fr. Andre Coulee who died on 22nd June 2012. In 1982 Lt. Fr. Coulee was very instrumental in the establishment of the Pan African Secretariat in Nairobi Kenya. On this day YCS members across Africa gather to celebrate and discuss challenges they face in their schools and society and propose solutions to them for action.
During the celebration at Mount Kenya University (MKU), the members were engaged in group discussion to deliberate on several topics such as; Financial Constraints, Same Sex Relationships, Radicalization, Masturbation and Fornication, Abortion, Prostitution, Social Media, Contraceptives and Catholic Church Sacraments and teachings among others.
The celebration was marked by celebration of Holy Mass and Presentation by the Pan African Coordinator on the current affairs of the movement in Africa.
