A Student Movement

The International Young Catholic Student (IYCS) is a global movement of Young Catholic Students committed to building a peaceful, just, and sustainable world. Also known as International Young Christian Students, IYCS is a Student Movement, for, among, and led by secondary and tertiary students between the ages of 13-30. IYCS educates and trains students to work for solidarity, freedom, justice, and peace in the world. Through our methodology of the Review of Life; the See-Judge-Act, IYCS provides formation and raises youth engagement in their local realities. It is an engagement that translates into mobilization and action against, exclusion, poverty, and injustice in the World. A Specialised Catholic Action Movement committed to the principles and values of Evangelization, Formation, Social Justice, and Advocacy in its Education and Policy-oriented work.

How We Work

CAPACITY BUILDING

We work to develop the capacity of our students through formation, training, and reflections to equip them to respond to the contemporary challenges that either directly or indirectly affect the youths in Africa and in the global context.

Advocacy

We raise the voices of the youths to ensure their views are represented and taken into consideration at regional and international forums. We do it with and for students. Our advocacy is geared towards a just society where all are free from all forms of oppression and liberated from unjust systems and structures.

PARTNERSHIPS AND REPRESENTATION

We collaborate with like-minded organizations at regional and international levels to meet joint objectives. Through collaboration and our affiliations, we represent the voices of the students at Regional Economic Committees (e.g East Africa community), Africa Union, and The United Nations.
